Studio Fifty Whore.
This photography project is a homage to Studio 54. If you don't know what Studio 54 is, that is not my problem. However, if you do know, then you may have heard of Rose Hartman. She was one of the most legendary photographers of the NYC fashion and club scene, and if you take that idea and then mix it with 2000's-style shitty MySpace photos, then this project is what you get. Nothing more, nothing less. The goal was to focus on the club scene of Birmingham by capturing the nitty gritty candids that you may encounter if you plan to party in the South. Does this project accomplish that? Probably not, but this project is for enjoyment and documenting good times, and ain't nothing wrong with that.
Meet the Artist: Artsen.
Artsen Craft is an enigma living in Alabama. They claim that they are photographing the "underbelly of Birmingham", however, they are a lying cunt. Studio 54 is instead a dive bar called Mom's Basement and these photos only document the dumb shit they get into when going out. Just like any artist, Artsen strives to be different and believes they are unique for trying different styles however they are probably copying an idea off of Pinterest. Currently, Artsen self-describes themselves as a "swamp witch, dumb bitch". But have they ever been to a swamp? Are they even from Alabama? Is their hair even green? These are questions that need to be asked.
